  1. Beautifully captured Jim! Only once have I seen Lake McDonald, we stopped by an historic hotel (cannot remember the name anymore) sitting shoreside. I was sad we couldn’t stay longer – it was just one of those places you could sit by the lake for hours. I can just imagine how beautiful the sunset must have been there.


    • Inger, thank you for your comments. That is a beautiful area. The lodge is called Lake McDonald Lodge. The Great Northern Railroad built a series of Lodges around Glacier NP to bring tourist from the east to see the park. They also built a series of chalets for people to ride horses to and stay the night. Only 3 of the chalets are remaining. If you ever get back to Glacier NP, try to visit the west side of the park. Much more primitive and peaceful. Bowman Lake and Kintla Lake are our favorites. Have a great day, Jim
