Gray whale — Laguna San Ignacio

A gray whale (Eschrichtius robustus) approaches a whale-watching panga in Laguna San Ignacio at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Laguna San Ignacio, located in Mexico's Baja California Sur, is one of three protected lagoons that serve as nurseries and birthing grounds for the gray whale.
